About this deal

Cathy has worked as a school librarian, drama director, and director of children's and education ministries. My own heart was touched by not only the story, but by the writings of Oswald and Bitty Chambers contained within the novel. I would like to be able to say that I especially liked a few characters but they were all done so well, that I will most likely keep these folks in my mind for quite sometime.

No, this is a second recording I have just posted which I made last night and is hopefully louder than the night before. Blackcaps have a sweet, flute-like song which, together with a more extensive UK distribution that extends into Scotland, explains why this bird is sometimes referred to as the northern nightingale. For anyone who's heard the eastern whip-poor-will's ( Antrostomus vociferus') soulful song flowing through a forest, it's little wonder why this bird is often represented as a mascot of summer nights in music, film, and literature.

Set in 1941, this particular novel is not for the weak at heart, and it doesn't hesitate or refrain from tackling many hard issues, and leaves the reader pondering its words long after they've finished it. The characters have real concerns and pains and they need a whole lot more than just a happy ending in the future--they have to find healing for the past and safety in the present. Personally, I was glued to every page, and believe this will be a favorite among this year’s crop of new Christian fiction releases. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Some species, like the Eastern Whip-poor-will, are nocturnal and only communicate after dark because that's when they're awake.

I think each person that reads this novel will have a different perspective of the history that goes along with it. One second it seems to be directly outside my house and within a couple of seconds it sounds like it’s far away.

This story provides readers with a glorious escape into the resplendent hills of North Carolina where the night birds sing and wildflowers grow in abundance; mesmerizing at best and merciless at worst; an intersection of cultures where time seems to stand still until you wished it didn't. This sediment resonates throughout the novel giving hope to the hopeless and courage for everyone to do their part and let God do the rest. Also, in areas where nocturnal birds are common, diurnal birds might wake in the night and respond to their singing.

Owls are famous for their late-night hootenannies, but they aren't the only ones crooning by moonlight. Collared doves are relatively recent UK residents, having arrived here in the 1950s from the Middle East via Europe. Not only did her father abuse her mother, her husband is abusive, he now wants to lock her up in an insane asylum and she flees to No Creek, North Carolina. Slowly Lilliana finds revival and friendship in No Creek—with precocious eleven-year-old Celia Percy, with kindhearted Reverend Jesse Willard, and with Ruby Lynne Wishon, a young woman whose secrets could destroy both them and the town. This intense period of birdsong, which starts about an hour before sunrise, begins around March and continues to July, corresponding with the mating season. While they aren't exactly nocturnal, unpaired males may sing 24 hours a day in the breeding season—spring to early summer—especially during a full moon.

The author handled these topics and more with a beautiful touch, gently toeing the line between too little and too much until she found the right balance. A clever busybody who wears her heart on her sleeve, her convictions inspire adults, while her knack for over promising and counting on people’s goodwill adds humor.Lilliana unexpectedly found herself enmeshed in situations of abuse and racial injustice in No Creek. I recommend this wonderful book to all who love to see courage and strength when you are faced with hardship and what the trust in God can do for you when you believe! Some may not want to read this as it deals with a lot of tough subjects such as race, rape, abuse,KKK. Celia, an eleven-year-old amateur sleuth, urges Aunt Hyacinth and Lilliana to open their home as a library and informal haven for literacy. However, bird song apps are not perfect and can get confused by background noise and multiple feathered singers.
